How to grant admin permissions in ESX

We explain how to assign the admin group to a player in ESX, from the database and with ACE permissions, so they have access to the admin commands.

The problem

You want to grant admin permissions to a player on your ESX server so they can use the admin commands and menus.

The cause

In ESX the role is stored in the `group` column of the `users` table. Some admin menus also require ACE permissions per group in server.cfg.

The solution

Assign the admin group in the database by the player's identifier:

sql
-- Change the identifier to the player's (you see it in the console when they connect)
UPDATE users SET `group` = 'admin' WHERE identifier = 'license:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx';

Step by step

  1. 1.Get the player's identifier (license:...) from txAdmin or the console when they connect.
  2. 2.Run the UPDATE above on your database (phpMyAdmin/HeidiSQL).
  3. 3.If your admin menu uses ACE, add in server.cfg: `add_ace group.admin command allow` and `add_principal identifier.license:xxxx group.admin`.
  4. 4.Ask the player to reconnect to apply the group.
